Fighting Fire with fire power...

The funerals are over, the dead have been buried, and now the morning process begins for the twenty children and six adults who were murdered by Adam Lanza at Newtown, Connecticut.Yet before this could happen the politicians, anti-gun lobby, and liberals everywhere were already jumping on the bandwagon to cry out for new gun regulations. What’s the old saying they follow? Never let a good crisis go to waste?
The only problem is that new regulations, bans, and whatever else they may come up with is an absolute and total waste. It won’t save lives, it won’t prevent this kind of thing from happening again, and it will not serve any purpose other than to disarm Americans. This is ultimately, what they want to begin with.
The National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre put it plainly, when he stated that the only way to prevent this from happening again was to placed armed guards into schools. I agree with him. Not because I am a member of the NRA, and certainly not because I’m a gun nut. In fact, I don’t even own a gun (I’ve been told I don’t play well with others.) I agree with him simply because the facts bare him out. When schools were turned into “Gun Free” zones, schools became a target of opportunity for those who would wreak havoc upon not just our children, but upon anyone who got in their way. Imagine for a moment what would have happened if there had been an armed guard at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Would Lanza have been able to enter the school? Would he have been stopped before entering classrooms and murdering twenty children? Most importantly, would he even have considered attacking the school knowing that there was someone there who would fight back and do everything in their power to protect those children? LaPierre has received a lot of criticism for his statement, but in the real world, it is a fact that when a criminal knows he runs the risk of being shot also, he’ll move onto an easier target.
While my heart goes out to the families and victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School and the people of Newtown, I point out a fact that the media seems to have conveniently ignored. That being, that over 25000 children are killed each year in alcohol related traffic accidents. Yet we do not see the liberal media screaming and yelling over this, the way they have been over the deaths of the children of Sandy Hook. If we apply the same mentality being shown over these victims why are we not doing the same for the 25000 victims that die each year from Alcohol related accident? Is it because they were accidents? Or is it because there seems to be a certain amount of hypocrisy in the mix?
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been researching violence and acts of terrorism. Sweden’s 69 victims, China’s 20 children who were victims of a madman with a knife, other cases where a hammer was involved, a screw driver, and the list goes on and on. IT’S NOT JUST GUNS!! It could be anything. Yet no one is willing to accept the fact that guns can deter the victimization of our students and children if they are in the right hands. What if Lanza had gone into that school with pipe bombs rather than an assault rifle? My point being that he could have used anything to kill those children, because killing was what he wanted to do to begin with.
At the same time, I will not sit here and tell you that assault weapons are necessary for a free America. I cannot see the sense in having an assault weapon for anything except war. What does a gun sportsman or woman need a semi-automatic assault weapon for? Because it looks, cool? Or because it destroys a target faster, or drops game faster? Christ! That’s like trying to go hunting with a hand grenade. If you need an assault rifle to go hunting, you need to learn how to shoot to begin with.
What the anti-gun lobbyist and liberals need to understand, is that it is not just guns that kill, anything can. Even a pencil or a pen.
Try and have a Happy Holiday if you can. Newtown, Connecticut won’t, and it will not for many years to come.
